ChatterboxTots - Groups for Pre-Schoolers
Groups for pre-schoolers aged two to four years. Perfect for your little ones who have grown up with ChatterboxBabies baby signing but are now ready for their new challenge. Perfect for busy toddlers up on their feet who are looking for new ways to express themselves and to stretch their imaginations. These classes are open to all and free of charge - though as class sizes are limited you will need to apply for a place. Your Health Visitor or Children's Centre should be able to provide you with a form.
The idea of the class is to gently boost your little ones communication skills particularly:
attention and concentration
listening and understanding
using words and sentences
making fun sounds
turn-taking and social skills
How will we do this??
Young children learn through play, so we use lots of fun activities including nursery rhymes, action songs, music, instruments, games, dressing-up, imaginative play and much more!
SIX WEEK COURSES
Special courses for children aged 2-4 years to attend with their parent/carer. Providing a busy, fun-packed hour of activities, along with general information and resources for parents to take home for future reference on all aspects of communication development.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE COURSES ARE IN NO WAY AN ALTERNATIVE TO SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPY ASSESSMENT AND TREATMENT. IF YOU HAVE CONCERNS ABOUT YOUR CHILD'S SPEECH AND LANGUAGE PLEASE ASK YOUR HEALTH VISITOR OR GP TO REFER YOU TO YOUR LOCAL SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPY DEPT.
If your child is one of the 10% of young children who has a speech and/or language delay they are very welcome to attend the group - I am sure they will enjoy it! As mentioned above, if you need specific advice or intervention you will need to ask your regular Speech and Language Therapist for this - I can provide contact details for your nearest department.
Classes run on Wednesday afternoons at BEECHFIELD CHILDREN'S CENTRE. This course is fully subsidised by the Children's Centre and families need to apply for a place. Please contact the Children's Centre for more information.
Classes also run on Monday mornings 9.30am - 10.30am at RICKMANSWORTH CHILDREN'S CENTRE. This course is fully subsidised by the Children's Centre. Please reserve your place by contacting the centre directly on 01923 772094.
Further courses run at South Oxhey Children's Centre (they take place at South Oxhey Library) on Thursday mornings 9.30am - 10.30am. Please ask your Health Visitor for more details.
Classes run on an occasional basis at LEAVESDEN CHILDREN'S CENTRE on Tuesday afternoons 1.30pm - 2.30pm. Please ask the centre for more details.
